On Writing a Farewell Speech
Writing a farewell speech is something that not all people could easily do. So long and farewells are actually hard to say if one is sincere, and writing about it and pouring your heart out into words could be hard as hell. At some point in time in your life, you would have to write a farewell speech. You would have to say goodbye to people that you’ve been with for a good time of years in your life, or you would have to say goodbye to a person who is leaving. Whether you’re leaving or you’re being left, a farewell speech would have to be made.
- If an introduction is not good enough, chances are that people would disregard the speech as a waste of time. The first few lines of the speech would define how many people would still listen to you by the end of it. This is the reason why introductions are actually the icebreakers. You need to break the ice between you and your audience. Most people do it with a joke, others with emotion so heavy that it would be very hard to look and pay attention to other things all at once.

If a person is leaving, you would have to say thanks for everything that that person has done for you. Talk about his achievements and how much it means to you that you have spent time with them. Jokes could be very easily cracked in the body of the speech. If you are to leave, make sure that you thank the people who has supported you throughout the years. Keep it short, keep it simple, and keep it enticing.
- The conclusion would give the purpose of the speech. Farewell speeches are written for goodwill and good luck. Nobody knows what the future holds and there is no way to know for sure. The best thing that one could do is to bid their sincerest good wishes to people that have been a major part of their lives.
There isn’t really one great rule to writing a farewell speech. It changes as the people who write them do, but, in most cases, saying words that are true and sincere are nice contents of a farewell speech.
